For most systems integrators, the final installation begins in the client's home. TVs are hung, equipment racks are delivered, connections to subsystems are made, and all previously-installed items such as flush-mount speakers and keypads are connected to the equipment in the rack. Then the fun begins.
Each component in the system has to be operationally verified. When something fails to respond, a time-consuming troubleshooting process is required to determine the source of the failure. Is it a component, an interconnect, a control system communication, WiFi, or cabling installed in an earlier phase of construction? With all of these variables at play, even a few minor issues can delay the final handover and client training, significantly impacting client plans and technician work schedules.
Enter Millson. ESC uses a Millson rack building system for cabling, testing, and troubleshooting all rack mounted components and peripheral products (in-room speakers, TVs, remote controls) right here in our office. This consists of a rack-building room with Millson panels that are duplicates of the cabling panels we install in a client's home. There is a wall of speakers to represent the audio zones we have wired into the house. Peripheral (non-rack) items are brought into this room and connected for testing. This ensures that all the components and interconnections are functioning properly before delivery to the job site. If any issues arise, we can confidently assess the origin of the problem and provide quick resolution, greatly reducing the time spent at the client's house. This is why we incorporate the word "concierge" into our company name. We aspire to be a source of technological convenience and enjoyment for our clients, without the headaches often associated with technology installations.
